Celebrate Canada Day and the 4th of July in Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls has long been a summer destination for Canadian and American tourists alike! The fact that our beautiful city is located right on the border between these two great countries means double the fun this summer, with plenty of Canada Day and Independence Day celebrations filling up the first week of July. Why not head down (or up!) to Niagara Falls this summer and check out the awesome activities and events celebrating our two awesome countries.

Canada Day Events | July 1

For over 30 years, the city of Niagara Falls has held Canada Day festivities to celebrate our home and native land. This July 1st,  head to Queen Street and the surrounding city streets in downtown Niagara Falls for lots of fun for all ages from dawn to dusk. The day kicks off at 9 am with 1K and 5K runs benefitting St. John’s Ambulance, follow22 ed by the annual Niagara Falls Canada Day parade at 11 am. The main event starts at 12:30 pm with Opening Ceremonies at the Main Stage followed by live music performances. Kids can play in the Scotiabank Children’s Zone featuring inflatable slides and bouncy castles and a rock climbing wall. There will also be an art show, car show, and local retail vendors, plus lots of local food trucks and free cake to celebrate Canada’s birthday!

Independence Day Events | July 4

Just because we’re in Canada doesn’t mean we don’t have lots of ways to celebrate the 4th of July! We honour our neighbours to the south each year with a classic fireworks show at dusk plus lots of other great activities and events. Each year for Independence Day, the iconic falls are illuminated in red, white, and blue, making it an awe striking and patriotic spectacle. 2019 will also be the first year that the Mistrider Illumination Zipline (which lets you zipline down the falls) will be open at night. You don’t want to miss this chance to glide 670 metres down the falls, illuminated in the colours of the American flag.

Rodeway Inn Fallsview is perfectly located just steps away from the Niagara River right next to the border between the USA and Canada. For us, the best thing about being so centrally located is that we get to celebrate not one, but two countries and meet twice as many wonderful visitors like you! And our visitors get to enjoy easy access to Niagara Falls and the many surrounding attractions, maybe even getting to visit both the USA and Canada in one trip! We’re looking forward to celebrating both Canada Day and the 4th of July with you this summer!
